Jeanne Elizabeth Meyer

Jeanne Elizabeth Cheshire Meyer, 77, died Saturday, May 30, 2009 at Hospice Savannah with her family by her side. She was a native of Riverhead, New York and lived in Savannah most of her life. She was a founding member of St. Francis of the Islands Episcopal Church. Mrs. Meyer was a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority for over 30 years, a CPR Instructor and Water Safety Instructor. She was also an avid Bridge player and an Audobon enthusiast. She was active with her children in Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts.

She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Edgar F. Meyer; two daughters, Susan M. Walls, and her husband, Gene, and Carolyn Simmons; and one son, Kenny Meyer, and his wife, Nancy, all of Savannah. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren; Bonnie Gentry, Shawn Walls, Corey Meyer, Megan Meyer, Ashley Simmons, and Lauren Simmons, and 3 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, Alan and Scott Jackson, Barbara Jackson Byrne, Steven and Dean Meyer, and Judy Meyer-Lodge.

A memorial graveside service will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 6, 2009 at St. Francis of the Islands Episcopal Church Garden.
